Brigades’ demand
Red Brigades guerrillas holding a Naples politician have urged higher payments for the unemployed in an effort to gain support in earthquake-stricken southern Italy. Only hours before the guerrillas made their demand, Parliament in Rome approved an emergency decree granting $8.5 billion for reconstruction of areas hit by last November’s quake. The brigades issued their fifth communique since kidnapping Ciro Cirillo and killing his two-man escort on April 27.
