Unique construction for a strong, elegant desk
Zip Commercial Interiors specialise in all aspects of commercial interiors — from partitioning to shelving and furniture. Zip manufactures ■’Steelcase" shelving and its own brand of partitioning, and is the New Zealand licencee for "Hille" office furniture. Zip's latest product is an attractive, low cost, completely "knocked down" office desk. The ends, drawer fronts and screen are finished in
laminate on board — durable as well as attractive. The desk top is heat shrunk P.V.C. on fibreboard, providing both a good work surface and a pleasant contrast. Aimed at the volume market, the new product has been designed for shipment as a flat pack. Even the drawers are freighted in parts to reduce transport costs. In a knocked-down state, the new "Premium” desk takes up about a quarter of
the room required for an assembled unit. This means a saving not only in transport costs but also in warehouse and storeroom space as well. "We can fit approximately 200 desks in a standard container," says the New Zealand manager for Zip, Mr Cam Gerard. The Premium is available in a variety of configurations. The drawers may be on either side of the desk and they may be in units of two or three. Since they are
supplied in flat packs and simply clipped together, they can be ordered when required. All the drawer sides are rigid P.V.C: extrusions and the two drawer unit has one deep file drawer for vertical filing. Assembly of the desk is equally simple with the instructions and tool supplied. The unique construction of the Premium makes a very solid desk that looks like an executive unit but is nowhere near executive price.
