Good trading by Command
:1 Command Services Corporation, Ltd, had been trading well since, the 40-week Janu- ’ ary 5 balance date, the chairman (Mr G. A. Crothall) told shareholders at the annual meeting yesterday. If the results for the three months since the balance date had been included in the 1981 result, group net profit before extraordinary items would have been ahead 20 per cent on the previous year’s earnings, he said. Command reported a net profit of $681,414 in the 40week period, compared with $923,194 in the previous year to March 31.' Mr Crothall expanded on points made in the annual
report about pursuing the Australian market. One area that the group was interested in was camp catering for the mining camps in the outback areas of Australia. This area was a profitable one. he said, but it was also difficult to break into. No particular contract of the group amounted to 5 per cent of the total turnover, so that Command did not become vulnerable by depending on one job. Command was in 45 towns in New Zealand, and alsoi working in Australia, so that a loss of contract in one area would not affect other places, Mr Crothall said.
