Licence extended
The Ellesmere Country Club has been granted permission by the Licensing Control Commission to increase its membership from 1150 to 1350.
The club applied for the increase in membership to cater for up to 260 people who have been on a waiting list to join the club for more than a year.
The proprietor of the Prebbleton Tavern, Mr M. Gilmore, objected to the application. He said that if the club's membership was increased, his livelihood and that of . other licensees in the district would be jeopardised.
