Graffiti MEMBERS of beautification societies in Christchurch might not be too pleased if the message on this fence in Holly Road, Merivale, catches on. Poor bustards CONSERVATIONISTS in Australia have come up with an effective poster to advertise the' plight of the bustard, a big, swift-footed bird also known as a plain turkey, which is in danger of extinction. “Give the poor bustard a fair go,” it reads.

However, the poster has been ’ put up in some unexpected places. One made a brief appearance behind the mag- , istrate’s desk in a Sydney : court last week. Royal visit

REGULATIONS on the use of the Royal emblems in souvenirs will be relaxed to mark the visit of the Queen to New Zealand later this year, the Department of Internal Affairs has announced. Normally Royal emblems can be reproduced only in the “most extraordinary” circumstances. The regulations have been temporarily relaxed until three months after the Royal tour. There are still restrictions on what emblems can be used and on what types of souvenir. Souvenirs must be in good taste, free from advertising, must not carry an implication of Royal cus-: tom or approval and must not be used as an aid in selling. Tourists
