District forecasts: Canterbury: Fresh southwesterlies, becoming cold with showers in the morning, but some fine periods developing inland in the afternoon. Nelson: Cool south-wester-lies, showers at first, but
increasing fine periods during the day. Marlborough: Cold southwesterlies, scattered showers clearing in inland places during the day, but persisting about the coast. Buller, Westland: Fresh south-westerlies, cold with frequent squally showers, hail and snow to low levels on the ranges, the showers should gradually decrease. Outlook: Some showers in the west, becoming fine in eastern districts of the South Island.
