Veteran Games
Sir,—Mrs Anne McKenzie writes from Pinelands, South Africa, explaining her attendance at the World Veteran Games in Christchurch last January. Commendably she points out that she paid her own way, but this still does not explain why her name appeared in the Games programme as running under Belgian colours, presumably with a Belgian passport. Danie Burger, who appeared to be the chief of the South African contingent, ran as from the United States, and a number of other runners from South Africa ran under the name of Holland with Dutch passports. How can a relatively large number of runners from a country which is under a ban from the International Amateur Athletic Federation come into New Zealand with passports from at least three other countries?—Yours, etc., JACK LOCKE. May 10, 1981.
