Suspects burn to death
NZPA-Reuter Madrid Three men were burnt to death in a car after they were shot at by Civil Guard’s from whom they tried to escape in a confused incident near the southern Spanish town of Almeria yesterday. The Civil Guard headquarters in Madrid said the armed men were detained on Saturday on suspicion that they took part in urban guerrilla attacks which cost five lives in Madrid last week. Their involvement was
ruled out after questioning, but Civil Guards decided to interrogate them again, as one had no identity docu- . ments and the others’ were possible forgeries. . The men were being driven in their own hired car to another Civil Guard stat tion when they tried to overpower the two guards in the front seats. The Guards, jumped out and colleagues . from an accompanying car opened fire. The car veered off the road and burst into flames, the Guard said.
