$50,000 bail allowed
A company manager facing charges of importing cocaine and LSD (lysergide) into New Zealand had been allowed bail of $50,000 by the Court of Appeal last week, said counsel (Mr G. R. Lascelles) in the District Court yesterday.
His client, Terry Ivan Ormandy, aged 32, was further remanded on bail to May 28 when, said Judge McAloon, a plea must be made.
Ormandy is alleged to have imported the two class B-controlled drugs into Auckland on February 8. He has been in custody since then, bail having been refused in both the District Court and the High Court. Ormandy was granted $20,000 bail by the Court of Appeal together with three sureties, each of $lO,OOO, and he was ordered to report daily to the police.
