N.Z. man on fraud charge in Sydney
NZPA - Sydney An Auckland company director was charged in Sydney Central Court yesterday with obtaining a letter of credit for more than $456,000 by false pretence- \ . Nigel Bennalack, aged 39, of Ellerslie, Auckland, appeared before Mr Clarrie Briese,; Chief. Stipendiary Magistrate, after, being arrested on; a warrant issued in New Zealand. ' Bennalack was charged with obtaining a letter of
credit for $456,584 from Smith and Brown, Ltd, at Remuera, Auckland, on February 6, payable to Inter Market Result, Ltd, by falsely pretending he had a current import licence authorising the importation into New Zealand of a quantity of. Mark 111 programmable games. No plea was entered. The Magistrate refused bail and remanded Ben- . nalack in custody until May 19 for extradition proceedings. In Auckland, the 6000 games were seized by the Customs Department last week when import documents were found to be not in order.
