‘Clear alternative’
PA Wellington Th? commercial community of New Zealand appears to appreciate that only ' a Labour government can put forward a clearly understood alternative to the present administration, the annual report of the Labour Party Council claims.
The report says the commercial community is looking for responsible economic management, enLcouragement and positive, practical programmes. In raising funds through business house canvassing, “our fine management record while in office has also been a considerable advantage,” says the report.
Support for lotteries as a means of fund-raising was not as good as in previous years, the report says. But the report adds “it is planned to launch a successful lottery during 1981 which we are confident will be well supported.” The construction of the party’s $1.2 million Fraser House headquarters building is progressing well and should be ready for occupation by next March. Discussing organisation for November’s . General Election, the report says, “We believe our organisation has never been better prepared and motivated to achieve an election victory than it is right now.”
