Darfield wins tough game

; Darfield beat Leeston. 15-7. on He Leeston domain in a hardfought forward battle on Saturday in the Ellesmere Sub-Union’s senior rugby competition. i’ Some of the forward exchanges were torrid and the heavier Darfield pack, especially in the second spell were superior. With such a supply of bail, the Darfield backs should have been able to add more points to the total. This was in part due to the over-use of the boot and to the sterling defence of Stewart Boon, , at full-back, and to the whole Leeston team. ; In the Darfield pack, S. Munro, in (particular, had a field dav in the I line-outs and was ablv assisted bv ID. Templeton. N. Campbell and G. 'Thompson. The three loose forwards had excellent games. At half-back, W. Pluck had an eye-catching game and the remainder of the back-line was steady rather than spectacular. In the Leeston pack. B.
