Obituary Mr L. W. Broadhead

Mr L. W, Broadhead, one of only two emeritus life members of the Automobile Association (Canterbury) has died in Christchurch. He was aged 81. Mr Broadhead joined the Automobile Association in 1930. He was elected in 1941 to the association’s council, on which he was to serve for many years. He was twice vice-president and was president from 1961 to 1965. Mr E. S. Palliser, the general manager of the association said that Mr Broadhead’s influence had been far-reaching and that he had played a big part in changing

the association’s philosophy. As a church steward for 39 years, Mr Braodhead was responsible for all properties of the Anglican Church in the Christchurch Diocese. He administered the finances of the church property trustees. He was secretary of the clergy pension trust fund. He retired from his church' positions in 1966. He was for many years a director of the Mutual Benefit Society, which later merged with the Christchurch Building Society. Mr Broadhead is survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter.
