Large jet-boat field
D class boats dominated the handicap section of the Canterbury Jet Boat Association’s Kakaia event on Saturday. Competition was held in perfeet conditions, and the largest field for some time took part, entries totalling 48. On the upstream run, four boats failed to reach the gorge bridge, and several also failed to complete the downstream section. The handicap results were: K. Belcher 1, N. Hyde 2, K. Cowles 3. Class results, which will count along with the results of the next two races for the overall points, are. A class: J. McLaughlin 1:42.35s I; M. Brown 1:48.34s 2; N. Cunnlngham 1:50.26s 3. B class: T.
