Pakistan tour off
Pakistan's outstanding junior hockey team will not tour New Zealand in September. the New Zealand Hockey Association was advised by cable yesterday. The chairman of the N.Z.H.A. (Mr D. L. Coulter) had started negotiations for a tour by the Pakistan team when he met members of the Pakistan Hockey Federation in Singapore last month.
It was hoped that the team would make a two-week tour in September and play both the New Zealand senior and junior teams. No reason for the decision not to come to New Zealand was given in the cable. A letter of explanation will follow. The Pakistan juniors recently played the senior team, the World Cup holder, in a 10-match series and triumphed 6-4.
