All-Hornby bowls final
The Northcote indoor bowls N.Z.I. tournament, held recently, was won convincingly by Leon McLennan’s Hornby W.M.C. team of Marie Watson, Bruce Gray and Ora Bate. In the final they beat their clubmates, Frank Chapman, Noel Tomlinson, Ross McCutcheon and Phil Carson, 16-3. Chapman was held to a close semi-final win, 8-7. by Elwyn Judson, whilst McLennan coasted home in his semi-final, 11-1, against Ngaire Tomlinson. Canterbury's nominations for the South Island team to tour the North Island in August 15/22 have been announced. The tour replaces the scheduled visit by an Australian team. This tour has been cancelled, because of selection problems.
