Peregrine impresses when beaten

'Altiiough he was beaten by half a length by El Vista at the Addington trials yesterday, Peregrine lost no friends for his big test in the Sires’ Produce Stakes Final tomorrow. Peregrine tangled away, but quickly caught his gait and worked to the front after about 100 m. He set a solid pace and was doing his work keenly near ’ the ' end when challenged by El, Vista. Ivan Schwamm . kept Peregrine- under a strc <g hold and he was beaten by half a length. El Vista paced the 2000 m in 2min 425, the last 800 m in Imin o.Bs, and the final 400 m in 30.25. He has plenty of ability. Nakoma, by Masie, headed the others, but he was 12 lengths away, Shabby Tiger was seen in the unusual role of pacemaker in the main heat for pacers. He had too much in reserve for his five rivals and won well by two lengths and a half after pac-
