University Vacancies THE UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH PACIFIC SENIOR LECTURER IN PHYSICS (Post 81-40) APPLICATIONS are invited for the post of Senior Lecturer in Physics within tne School of Natural Resources. Applicants should have a PhD in Physics (or a very closely related discipline) and at least five years’ experience of University level teaching and research. Current research interests in Physics and environmental physics, renewable energy supplies, applied geophysics and ionospheric physics and preference will be given to candidates with experience in one of these fields. The successful candidate should available to take up the appointment on or just before January 1, 1982. The University provides gratuity amounting to 15 per cent of basic salary, appointment allowance, partly furnished accommodation at 12Jper cent of salary, and will pay an allowance in - lieu of; superannuation of IO per cent of basic salary. In some cases this allowance may be paid directly to the appointee’s existing superannuation scheme subject to decision on acceptability of the scheme by the Commissioner of Inland Revenue, Fiji. THE UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH PACIFIC ASSOCIATE LECTURER IN HISTORY AND POLITICS (Post 81/41) THE appointment is for one year from -June 1981. The appointee will be expected to teach at Foundation (predegree) level, in a survey course on Pacific history, and in a course on World History from the Renaissance to the Second World War. The appointee will also be expected to take part in a multi-dis-ciplinary course, Problem Studies, for which a general background in the social seiences would be necessary. The minimum qualification is a good first degree; experience teaching in the Pacific region would be desirable. Salary depending on qualifications and experience will be in the Associate Lecturer scale: F 56761 - $F10,996.
