N.Z. crash survivor
NZPA Jakarta The five passengers who died in a plane crash on Tuesday in Pekanbaru in central Sumatra were identified as four Americans and one Briton, a police spokesman has said.
The Dakota DC3 carrying 17 people, including four Indonesian crew- members who also perished, crashed into trees in bad weather with poor visibility. All 13 passengers on board the plane were foreigners.
including Americans, Britons. Australians, Canadians, and Singaporeans. The police said the dead passengers were identified as Willis Craig. M. Sherrill. J. Owen, and V. Kaufman, all of the United States, and I. Zipfel of Britain. Home towns of the deceased were not immediately available, the police said. The eight survivors were: M. Cole of New Zealand. P. Gunke, Australia. D. Lowry. Canada. J. Acton, United States, T. Jones. Britain, V. Alburquerque, Singapore. J. Chan, Singapore, and Sivalingan, Singapore. The plane was one its way from Singapore to Pekanbaru. carrying, spare parts for a helicopter and drillingequipment for the Canadian Hudbay oil company, which was exploring for oil off the coast of central Sumatra. Some of the passengers were said to be employees of the oil company.
