Future in doubt
PA Wellington Mr Ces Blazey’s future as chairman of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association’s management committee will be officially discussed at next Tuesday evening’s meeting. Two of the association’s 10 centres, Auckland and Northland, have advised the secretary, Mr Barry Meyers, they have voted against Mr Blazey remaining as chairman because of his proSpringbok tour stance as chairman of the New Zealand Rugby Football Union. It is not clear whether it
will be discussed in open meeting. The Hawke’s Bay-Poverty Bay centre was reported over Easter to have voted against Mr Blazey continuing, but Mr Meyers said yesterday he had yet to reveive official confirmation. Waikato, which first raised objection to Mr Blazey after a recent management cbm-, mittee meeting, had also not advised Mr Meyers of any official stance. It is believed Mr Blazey’s position was discussed in committee at the April meeting.
