Porlrua. This unique new Centre opened in June 1980, providing assessment and treatment for children and adolescents with a wide variety of disorders in physical, emotional and mental development. The service is largely outpatient based and designed to provide for community support of patients. Thirty-four inpatient beds are provided for the intellectually handicapped at present and a further 34 inpatient beds are expected to be commissioned in two years time. The new Puketiro buildings are spacious and * of modern design, being tvell equipped with therapy rooms and full audio-visual facilities. The staff consists of a multi-disciplinary team of threa clinical psychologists, five social workers, two occupational therapists, two physiotherapists, child psychotherapist, audiologist and speech therapist. as well as nursing and medical staff, under the directorship of an experienced pediatrician. ’ The psychology discipline consists of a Senior Psychologist and two clinical psychologists. A close working liaison is maintained with the Wellington Hospital Board’s 20 psychologists. There are good opportunities for clinical research. QUALIFICATIONS: A Masters Degree or Post Gra- ; duate Diploma in Clinical Psychology or equivalent relevant clinical experience preferably in work with children and families, and an ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
