Boulder Creek expected to make bold showing
By
G. K. YULE
Boulder Creek’s determined run for second in the fastest of three races for two-year-olds on Tuesday points to him breaking through for his first win in the Juvenile Stakes at the New Brighton club’s meeting at Addington Raceway today.
Boulder Creek’s fine run on Tuesday probably earned him a start in the $16,000 final of the Sires’ Produce stakes .iext Friday. A bold run today will confirm his placing among the final 14 selected to start. The Metropolitan Club is regarding this race as another heat of the Sires’ Produce Stakes so there will be keen competition to catch the eyes of members of the selection committee. Boulder Creek, a member
of Clem Scott’s team, has been placed in his three race starts and is overdue for a win. Capri could be the hardest for him to beat. She did well for third behind Judy’s Girl and Timely Joy on Tuesday and will only have to begin smartly to make Boulder Creek work hard for victory. Trevallen was not disgraced when he finished third to two talented colts in Enterprise and Mel’s Boy on Tuesday. He has paced some
useful races lately and should again be prominent. El Jefe and Matai Bret were rather disappointing in their races last Tuesday, finishing seventh - and eighth respectively. Their form beforehand was much more impressive and they must be considered again; Norton made an impressive race debut on Tuesday when he finished fifth, not all that far from the winner, Detective. He mounted a likely run 200 m out in that
race, but tired a shade over the final 25m. The race , should improve him and a bold run today will not surprise. Peregrine should be the pick of the others. Additional drivers Additional drivers for the New Brighton Trotting Club’s meeting at Addington Raceway today are:— Race 8 (May Handicap): J. Nuttall:—Watbro Royale. Race 9 (Bexley Handicap): J. Smolensk!:—Lord Brigade. J. Carmichael:—Heather Chief.
