City rates
Sir, — As a resident of Heathcote County, may I offer my sympathy to city ratepayers for their 20 per cent bonus. I hope our county council may be able to improve on this; in the meantime all I will say is that my enthusiasm for amalgamation (if any) has hardly been increased. However, for Rex Lester and his team, all is not yet lost. If they can persuade Ann Hercus to disclose Labour’s secret formula for controlling inflation, as so temptingly promised by her on TV, the mere trifle of the Christchurch city rates should present no problems. — Yours, etc., G. A. POLLOCK. April 28, 1981.
