Addington market
Improved calf values
Excellent lines of Banks Peninsula and tussock-bred calves featured in the special store calf sale at Addington market yesterday. The condition of the calves offered was better than last week and values improved accordingly. Perhaps-the best sale was for the medium-sized Angus and Angus cross steer calves. Heavier sorts looked better buying. The feature sale was 42 AngusHereford cross steers from A. J. Hutchinson (Wainui). These ranged from $lB6 to $232.
Heifer calves were harder to sell but still made reasonable money — especially the lightweights. The buying power was again dominated by an agent purchasing calves for lower North Island areas. Local farmers were also competitive. The yarding was 1992 (1548 last week).
