Rolls underfloor unit
People building or renovating their homes or who have a few feet of space beneath the floor boards should check on the advantages of thermostatically controlled underfloor electric heating before deciding on their heat system. Rising oil prices no longer make oil-fired central heating as attractive as it was a few years ago. . :■'3 ... . Today it is possiblei to put a thermostatically controlled fan assisted Rolls underfloor heater into either a new or existing house at a very economical cost.
It works on a simple principle; it aims to keep warm air constantly circulating throughout the room. This avoids the loss of hot air through the roof and prevents layers of warm air piling up under the ceiling.
The black heat element is installed under the floor and is designed to operate for thousands of hours without maintenance. A small unobtrusive grille on one side of the room sucks in the air. This is' passed over the heating ele-j, ment and blown back in to the room through another grille on the opposite side. This action creates a continuous heatflow and the temperature of the room is ] maintained at a steady, predetermined level set on *, the thermostat control.
During an evening the heater may operate for only ' 5 or 10 minutes , at a time, two or three times an hour. This is all done automatically and people in the room are not even aware when the thermostat operates. I The
saving in electricity is immense. Power authorities support the use of thermostatically controlled fan assisted heaters because they conserve energy and provide more heat for the amount of energy they consume. Many radiant heaters once switched on are left to burn all evening. Because they heat the air immediately in front of them the whole room never gets entirely, warm although the temperature at the ceilina can be 10 degrees higher than that at
1 floor level. The Rolls Convoy underfloor system overcomes all these problems. The warm air starts at floor level, rises, crosses the room and comes down again. The only maintenance required is to run the vacuum cleaner over the air filter from time to time. The cost of living would suggest that it is also economic good sense for a householder to look for an efficient, clean, heating system and the Rolls underfloor unit has proved to be the answer for thousands of homes.
