Heat output controlled for comfort
It is now generally recognised that the automatic control of heat output is important in fuel economy. The .more accurate the control equipment, the less heating will cost to run since-occupants may intend to turn down the heat but seldom do so in practice. The usual device is the simple room thermostat. This is inexpensive and easy to install. The various activity areas of a home should have their own separate con- ; trols set to the appropriate level. In general, tlte following temperatures are found to be
most suitable; 18 to 21 degrees in living rooms; 16 degrees for the kitchen and bathroom; 13 degrees for the bedroom. More sophisticated controls are not unusual, such as 'time clock switches that automatically bring on the warmth when it is wanted and differential thermostats that provide different temperatures for different times. Too much heat can be just as uncomfortable as too little and it is wasteful, too. Automatic heat control gives exactly the right temperature for efficiency and economy.
