Entry to forest is free

Entrance to the Ashley Forest for the Dunlop rallysprint will cost spectators nothing on both days, as rallying is one of the few sports which can be provided free.

However, the Rallies and Trials Enthusiasts’ Club, which is organising the event, may take a collection to help defray the high cost of running it. Programmes, which include instructions on how to get out of the forest, will be available at Dunlop tyre centres from today and if the weather is fine a car-park will be opened up near the forest headquarters. The public can also see the cars at Canterbury Court on Saturday night as they are impounded for the evening at pare ferme. Refreshments will be available at the forest and toilets will be provided. It is hoped to have a public-address system set up around the tricky route so that spectators can be kept informed about the fortunes of the drivers.
