Theft charges denied
A man facing nine charges of theft, involving property valued at $l3OO, was remanded to July 9 for a defended hearing before Judge Fraser in the District Court yesterday. Stephen John McMahon, aged 26. a cook, is alleged to have committed the offences in Christchurch on March 5 and 13. REMANDED Gilbert Reginald Dallow, aged 28, a wood polisher, charged with threatening to kill Selwyn Clive Griffin, was remanded without plea to May 5. Dallow, (Mr D. J. R. Holderness), who is alleged to have committed the offence on April 25, was granted bail. FURTHER REMAND A labourer, aged 40,
charged with injuring his wife with intent to injure her, was further remanded without plea to May 13. He is Luxford Nehanera Sutherland, (Mr P. R. Van Rij) who is alleged to have committed the offence on April 16. The remand is in custody and a psychiatric report on the defendant is to be obtained. ROBBERY CLAIM A solo mother, aged 38, charged with robbing a man of clothing, valued at $6O, was remanded without plea to May 1. Raewyn Kotara (Mr E. Bedo) is charged with having committed the offence on Tuesday. She was allowed bail ol $5OO.
