Money for institutes
PA Wellington Technical training institutes will receive a big financial boost from the Government this year, said the Minister of Education (Mr Wellington) yesterday. In a speech to open a $3 million expansion of the Central Institute of Technology in Upper Hutt, Mr Wellington said the Government had devoted $ll million last year
to capital works at training institutes. He promised it would be increased in “real terms” this year. Over past years, the Government’s educational expenditure had been directed towards universities, but would now swing more towards the institutes. “They must be properly equipped training platforms,” Mr Wellington said.
