Rugby league deaths
NZPA Port Moresby Two Papua New Guinea rugby league players have died after injuries suffered during matches staged in two P.N.G. cities last weekend. One player was badly injured playing a reserve
grade match in the city of Lae, in Morobe province, at the week-end. The player walked off the field unaided, but later died in hospital from a ruptured spleen. The other death was in Port Moresby where an under-21 player is reported
to have died from head injuries received during a game. Several rugby league players are killed each year in Papua New Guinea, mostly through' ruptured spleens, according to medical sources.
