Addington market Cattle sale numbers and prices up
Prime cattle found a good inarj get at Addington yesterday. The number of cal tie yarded I nearly doubled from last week but ' unproved dor large- steers and • cows. The best of the prime lambs and Iwo-looths sold well blit others were harder to dear. Tavlor (Oxford). 57 at $7 to $ll. PRIME CATTLE Steers and caws dominated the. yarding of 470 prime cattle (266 last week). Large steers sold particularly well and some improved by up to $2O a head. Lighter steers and heifers also improved slightly. The cow market was active and the demand was strong from export buyers. The best price was $550 for a Murray Grey steer from D. H. Beattie (Kaikoura). A simmental heifer from Harlau Farm (Salisbury) sold for $338 and a Friesian cow from I. W. Puschell (Kaiapoi) for $396. Steers and heifers to 220 kg sold between 120 c and 125 c a kilogram; between 220 kg and 270 kg, 119 c to 123 c: over 270 kg, to 129 c. Values were:— Prime heavy steers: $393 to $450 with odd sales to $550. Prime medium steers: $360 to $390. Prime light steers: $295 to $355. Prime heavy heifers: $270 to $290 with odd sales to $338.
