Grain ban lifted

Wellington reporter New Zealand has lifted its ban on grain sales to Russia. This was announced last evening by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Overseas Trade (Mr Taiboys), who said the New Zealand action was in line with that of several Other Western countries which had imposed embargoes on grain sales to the U.S.S.R. The restraints, which took the form of a limitation on barley sales to 61,000 tonnes for 1980-81, and a complete ban on exports of maize to Russia, have been reviewed by the Cabinet, which decided there was no reason to maintain retrictions on exports from New Zealand, Mr Taiboys said.
