Wistful Windsor
NZPA London A former Wales and British Lions hooker, Bobbv Windsor, says he would have liked to have been a New Zealander had he not been born a Welshman. “They play rugby the way I like it and are one of the cleanest rugby ’ nations going,” he said in an interview in the “Daily Star.” “There was a lot of trouble over J. P. R. Williams having his head stamped on by John Ashworth, but all that surprised me was that it took ten years to happen. “J.P.R. is so brave, he-has been falling on the ball and shielding it with his body for years. With the All Blacks’
rucking game he was just asking to get hurt." The . former Pontypool hooker, whose views on rugby and the players he has known have been featured in a series in the “Daily Star,” describes the Welsh full-back as one of the bravest men in rugby — “and the most arrogant.” “Quite frankly, John Peter Rhys Williams, the world’s most capped full-back, is a bit of a big head,”. Windsor said. “Every player I know marvels at his achievements but few really warm to him. Like many great champions he is essentially a loner with total self-belief.”
