Bluff Farm, a 332 ha cattle and sheep unit on the foothills near Rakaia Gorge, sold for $435,000, more than twice its Government valuation (1979) of $195,500, at auction bn Friday. Buildings include a six-year-old 1200 sq ft Summerhill stone house with an iron roof, and two bedrooms. An old weatherboard house also on the property is to be leased for life by the parents of the vendors. The auctioneer was Mr C. F. Hooper of Pyne, Gould, Guinness, Ltd. A weatherboard, colonial villa of about 80 years old on the South Eyre Road, Eyreton, sold at an on site auction on Friday for $36,400. The Government valuation (1976) is $16,500. The house has three bedrooms, a section of about 8250 sq m, and is in need of some repair, according to the auctioneer, Mr Robert Brown.
Yesterday a cottage on nearly 1600 sq m at 61 Springs ‘ Road, Prebbleton,
sold at auction for $33,500. The Government valuation (1977) is $27,000. According to the auctioneer, Mr W. Knight of Whittle, Knight and. Boatwood, Ltd, part of the cottage is 100 years old. Other parts have been added over the years, and the property is in good condition, for its age. He described the places as delightful.
