Lipinski’s pseudosocialism
Sir, — The erroneous ana fallacious opinions which flaw Edward Lipinski’s article, “Towards a new kind of socialism.” April 23, explains why he is now described as a “former” professor of economics. His statement, “Socialism is a product of human thought and emotions,” is egregiously astray. Socialism is the product of thousands of years of historical social evolution, its lineaments, pre-adumbrated in preceding socio-economic formations, were brilliantly discerned by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels and came to realisation in today's Soviet Union. Lipinski’s question and answer, “Can one 'build’ socialism to plan? No economic system in history has been a planned product", betrays his meagrely circumscribed intellectual range. There is no other way to build socialism. Socialism ushers in the era of planned human society, the economy directed by human intelligence, of > necessity,
superseding the chaotic, anarchic, spontaneous growth of all previous economic systems. — Yours, etc., M. CREEL. April 24, 1981
