The Postal Centre
Sir,—Lest we forget in the euphoria of the opening of the Postal Centre the tenacious fight opposing the siting (but not the design) of this building, it would be well to recollect the efforts made by the late Dr Helen Hervey, and others, at public meetings and with the City Council, but to no avail. The final justification of the scheme was to be a set-back along Hereford Street and the landscaping of this area. As with most issues she, and her environmental organisation campaigned for, she has been found to be right. Along with Mr John Oakley, on other issues, we sadly miss the dedication of Dr Hervey in work for the city.—Yours, etc., D. E. DONNITHORNE. April 27, 1981.
