33 years on heroin charge
NZPA/Reuter Bangkok An Australian'Was yesterday sentenced to 33 years and four months imprisonment for possessing and' attempting to smuggle heroin out of Thailand. ' ■ ’ ?
Richard Allan Blades, aged 36, whose home address was not immediately available, was arrested at Bangkok Airport before departing for Singapore in May last year in possession of 82.6 grammes of high-grade heroin.
He was originally sentenced to life imprisonment, but the sentence was reduced after he pleaded guilty to charges of possessing and attempting to smuggle ' the drug. ; .
