Refinery talks today
PA Whangarei ' The strike at the ' Marsden Point oil refinery, now in its fourth day, has already cost the New Zealand ■Refining Company about $560,000 in lost production. It is costing each of the 60 striking plant operators an average of $56 a day in lost wages. Most centres have only limited stocks of petrol, Auckland has two weeks supply and when these are gone most transport will come to a standstill. Hopes of a settlement are pinned on a meeting between company representatives and the Federation of Labour in Auckland today. The president of the Federation of Labour Mr W. J. Knox, said on Sunday he would ask the operators to return ..to work when the two parties met Today. . .
