Port expects busy week
After what has been a relatively qtiiet period at the Port of Lyttelton, shipping activity is expected to pick up considerably in the coming week, producing “a very heavy demand for all facilities.” according to the traffic manager of the Lyttelton Harbour Board (Mr D. A. Jones). Four container ships arc expected during the week: the ACT 7 in the cellular container exchange service to and from Europe, the Forum New Zealand in the Pacific Forum Line's service to the Pacific islands; the Encounter Bay’, also in the European service; and the Wellington Star which serves the route between New Zealand and the west coast of North America. The Juyo Maru will be loading meat for Red Sea ports and the Nedlloyd Fremantle will load and discharge for the South African service. Also scheduled to arrive in port is the Bengal Career to load 35,000 tonnes of coal for Japan, the Yugoslavian Heroj Kosta Stamenovic which will take on 12,000 bales of wool, the Jebsen Line's Altis loading and discharging in the Japan, South Korea, and Hong Kong trade, and the Nedlloyd Al-

The Union Lyttelton, in the trans-Tasman roll-on service, is expected to make two calls during the week and there will be the usual two visits by the Coastal Trader in her Auckland-Lyttelton-Dunedin run.
