Students’ food protest
NZPA-Reuter Belgrade Riot police cordoned off the university in the. southeastern Yugoslav Cl v Pristina yesterday- where students have occupied hostels and barricaded themselves in, onlookers said. They said steel-helmeted police 7 carrving shields had made some arrests after the occupation that started on Thursday in the second eruption of trouble in two weeks. One student was beaten before being arrested as
left the philosophy faculty, the onlookers said. Mr Dragoslav Markovic, president of the Yugoslav Parliament, fold a news conference in Belgrade that university professors and local •officials were negotiating with the students.. He said the disturbance was. similar to one two weeks ago, eventually broken up by the police using-tear-gas, which officials said was started by dissatisfaction with the quality qf food in the hostels. ■ *'~ x - x
