Peace bid resumes
NZPA-ReuterDacca, Bangladesh
President Ahmed Sekou Toure, of Guinea, leader of an Islamic mission charged with ending the Gulf war, said yesterday, the group would visit Iran and Iraq next week to resume peace talks with leaders of the two countries.
Mr Toure said that written replies and additional proposals pct forward by Iran and Iraq to an Islamic peace plan indicated that neither of the warring nations had rejected the Islamic proposals and were eager to end the six-month-old war.-
He said the nine-member mission would meet in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, tomorrow, to study the Iranian and Iraqi replies and decide on how else to continue the peace efforts.
