High round for Smith
NZPA-Reuter Costa Mesa
Marilyn Smith, of New Zealand, shot 84, well over par, in the first round of a $175,000 Ladies Professional Golf Association tournament at Costa Mesa, California.
Miss Smith was thirteen strokes behind the leader, Pat Bradley who shot a par round of 71 to take a onestroke lead.
