Powley out of Stakes
The brilliant Wingatui filly Powley has been s<A_tched from her engagement in the .$lO,OOO James Hazlett Stakes at Wingatui today. Powley received stitches in a hind leg after she was galloped on in the Waitaki Stakes at Oamaru on Monday. She worked well enough yesterday morning, but there is still some swelling in the leg and her trainer, Hector Anderton, does not want to take any risk with his speedster. Powley will now probably compete in the Inglewood Stakes at Rangiora on April 13, and t’.en she could well be flown to Auckland for a tilt at the Great Northern Oaks,
