Economic service position
Mr Bevan S. Whitty has been appointed district officer for the Meat and Wool Boards’ Economic Service in Christchurch replacing Mr G. T. Mars, who has resigned to take up private employment. Mr Whitty, who holds a diploma in valuation and farm management from Lincoln College, joined the Ecor nomic Service as field officer in J 966 after four years and a half with the Lands and Survey Department in Gisborne and Napier. Following two years with the service in Napier, Mr Whitty was appointed district officer in Invercargill in 1969 with responsibilities for the Otago/ Southland region. Mr . Whitty is currently national vice-president of the New Zealand Society of Farm Management, a registered farm management consultant, a registered valuer, a member of the Southland Valuation Tribunal and is a past chairman of the Southland Agricultural Advisory Committee. He has been a contributor to several field days and farming conferences in the region during his period in Invercargill.
