‘Incompetent’ grant
PA Auckland The founder of the Aqua Avia venture will appeal against what he calls an “incompetent” decision to grant Air New Zealand an 11 per cent increase on domestic and freight rates. Mr W. M. B. Thompson, the temporary chief executive of t'he Aqua Avia Society, last evening criticised the Air Services Licensing Authority for}
granting .the rise, asserting that it had “treated the public with complete contempt.” Mr Thompson said the evidence produced by Air New Zealand in support of the increase was totally inadequate. Neither a balancesheet nor a profit-and-loss account had been produced at the hearing. The Authority was obviously incompetent and should be publicly examined.
