W. Horton move to cable TV

PA Auckland Wilson and Horton, Ltd, publisher of the “New Zealand Hearld,” has bought an interest in a small company formed in 1972 to investigate the introduction of cable television to New Zealand — Cablevision New Zealand, Ltd. The others shareholders are J. Scott and Company, Ltd, of Dunedin, Tolley Holdings, Ltd, of Wellington,, and Southlands Communications, Ltd, formerly Southlands Cablevision, Ltd, of Canada. J. Wilsion and Horton says that it has been studying the growth of cable television in the Northern Hemisphere for a number of years and is aware of the technological changes which are now taking place. More than 14 million homes in the United States and four million in Canada are now wired to cable television services. Wilson and Horton adds that, together with its partners in Cablevision New Zealand, it will pursue the introduction of a cable system here after an evaluation at first hand of overseas systems.
