The Christchurch swimmer, Michael Qulniivan r set a new record for the north-south swfai across . Cook. Strait yesterday, taking 58 minutes off the old record. Quiniivan entered the -water at Ohal Polnt ’at «.M) a.m. and completed the record fa Thrs SBmlns, bettering the record set by another accomplished long-distance swimmer, Philip Bush, o£ dfa, last year.
