No action by Mr Muldoon
The Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) has decided, in the interests of “peace and harmony,” not to pursue court action against the president of the Federation of Labour, Mr W. J. Knox, for alleged defamation, reports the Press Association. Mr Muldoon said at a news conference yesterday that he had taken legal advice over a statement Mr Knox made on tele-
vision on Thursday evening- .■■ “My .advice is that the statement was defamatory and actionable,” Mr Muldoon 1 said, but- he; added that he did not propose to pursue it. 1 1-However, Mr Muldoon (said he would probably raise the matter with the Broadcasting Corporation, because the statement had been repeated on Radio New,.; Zealand’s .“Morning Report” yesterday.
