The Clippie firms for Galaxie Stakes
Special correspondent Dunedin The Clippie will come in for close attention in the D. B. Galaxy stakes at Wingatui tomorrow in the absence of her stablemate, The Fantasy. The Fantasy deserves to be a hot favourite after her win in the White Robe Lodge Stakes last week and a 2000 m W.F.A. race at Gore last month but she will not be on hand if she can be flown from Christchurch to Auckland today; She is
engaged in the Air New Zealand Stakes at Ellerslie tomorrow.
The Clippie was running on for seventh over 1600 m last week. The daughter of War Hawk should be better suited over 2200 m. She won the Windham Cup (2000 m last month and was runnerup to Candy Boy in the Dunedin Cup on Boxing Day. In Flight is a proven .stayer. She won the Invercargill Cup last month and was runner-up in the Windham Cup. She ran Little Brown Jug close in
the Galaxy at Wingatui last year.
Mary Wake warrants conI sideration on the strength of [her second to the Fantasy at [Gore and Albatross is another entitled to strong backing. She has not had the ! best of luck in her racing [this season but has been iplaced at weight-for-age. Double Days stands out in the Autumn Handicap, second leg of the T.A.B. double. She did well to finish third in the White Robe last week and won her two previous I starts easily at Gore and In■vercargili.
