N.Z. soccer delay
. The New Zealand under-19 soccer team will now leave the country on March 11 for South America, where it will contest its qualifying group for the world youth tournament finals.
However, the secretary of the ■ New ■ Zealand Football Association (Mr Gwyn Evans) said yesterday that he has yet to be informed of the location of the group matches, or the third opponent. New Zealand and Israel will , play off with one of Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile and Ecuador. These’
teams are at present competing for two places in the final, which will be held in Australia later this year. Brazil and Argentina are understood to be the likely teams to go through from that group. The- third-placed country will get a further chance of qualifying when it meets New Zealand and Israel, the group winner going on to the finals. The three teams will play each other twice.
New Zealand will travel to Chile and from there will fly to whichever is to be the host country.
